Types of leave of absence and necessary documents

※ Leave of absence for freshmen: Permissible after the start of semester
※ If you take a leave of absence after paying tuition, you can choose either to receive a refund or to have the payment carried over to the semester when you return (Refunds are not available for freshmen).
Procedure
- Login mySNU → Change Student Status → Apply for Leave of Absence
- Notice
- Failure to submit necessary documents or to complete a Major Planning session (for general leave of absence) will result in cancellation of one’s application for a leave of absence.
- Major Planning consultation for general leave of absence does not count toward the requirement of three or more sessions with an academic advisor needed to declare a major.
- If you were approved for general leave of absence but wish to change it to military leave, you must reapply for military leave with the appropriate supporting documents.
Re-registration
Types of re-registration and necessary documents

※ Students invalidated during military leave: If you are invalidated between the start and end of the semester, submit invalidment certificate along with the adjusted military leave period when applying for re-registration.
(The semester including your return date will still count as military leave. Students who are invalidated within a quarter of the class days may apply to cancel their military leave.)
Procedure
- Login mySNU → Change Student Status → Apply for Returning to School
- Notice
- Students whose leave of absence period has expired and who have not applied for re-registration will be dismissed.
- Students who will be discharged after more than a quarter of class days have passed may still apply for re-registration within the registration period, provided they can participate in classes before the re-registration deadline through military vacation leave and will be discharged immediately afterward to return to school. Required supporting documents must be submitted. 1) If you can take continuous leave until your scheduled discharge, which occurs after more than a quarter of the class days have passed: Proof of scheduled discharge, Approval from your commanding officer, Copy of leave certificate 2) If you cannot take continuous leave until your scheduled discharge, which occurs after more than a quarter of the class days have passed: Proof of scheduled discharge, Approval from your commanding officer, Copy of leave certificate for the days when classes are held, Recommendation from your academic advisor or the director of your program, Student confirmation form
- For students discharged after attending more than a quarter of class days, only leave certificates officially approved at the time of submission will be accepted. Any leave not yet approved at the time of submission does not qualify.
Withdrawal
Procedure
- Login mySNU → Change Student Status → Apply for Withdrawal → Print the application form, obtain signatures from yourself, your guardian, and your advisor, and submit it to the administrative office.
※ Any tuition refund will be issued to the registered bank account. Refunds can only be made to an account in the student’s name, so please make sure to provide your own account information.
Course Registration
